Monel 400 (UNS N04400) is a nickel-copper alloy. It contains about 30% copper and 70% nickel. The combination of these two components gives Monel 400 excellent corrosion resistance.
Key Properties
- Corrosion Resistance: Excels in marine environments, resisting seawater, chlorides, and acids (e.g., sulfuric, hydrochloric under reducing conditions).
- Mechanical Strength: Maintains integrity from subzero to 480°C (900°F).
- Ductility & Formability: Suitable for cold working and machining.
- Thermal Conductivity: Lower than copper but higher than stainless steels.
