By virtue of its contents of chromium, molybdenum, and tungsten and controlled iron, Inconel 622 exhibits excellent resistance to both oxidizing and reducing acid environments as well as those containing mixed acids.
Inconel 622 is also an excellent dissimilar metal welding product that offers protection against preferential weld metal corrosion when used for joining molybdenum-containing stainless steels, INCONEL alloy C-276, and INCONEL alloy 625. The high chromium content, along with the tungsten and molybdenum, give good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
Inconel 622 is particularly useful for resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in acid-halide environments. Applications include the chemical processing, pollution control, flue gas desulfurization, waste incineration, and pulp and paper processing industries.
