Inconel 625

The Inconel 625 alloy is a solid solution strengthening high temperature alloy with an addition of molybdenum and niobium that can stiffen the alloy’s matrix and thereby provide high strength.

With excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation, Inconel 625 alloy can be perfectly used for superheat and severely corrosive environments. In addition to this, inconel 625 alloy shows outstanding tensile and thermal-fatigue strength in the service temperatures ranging from cryogenic to 980℃, and good resistance to stress corrosion cracking in salt atmosphere.

The addition of molybdenum and niobium imparts high strength and excellent thermal fatigue resistance, as well as resistance to oxidation and various corrosive media. Alloy 625 is readily weldable using a variety of methods.

Inconel 625 is suitable for use across a wide temperature range, extending from cryogenic temperatures up to 1800°F (982°C). Thanks to these properties, the alloy is widely recognized in the organic chemical industry—where acidic chloride catalysts are frequently employed—and is used in pulp and paper digesters and bleaching equipment, nuclear reactor cores and control rod assemblies, naval vessel components (such as cable and blades for gunboats and submarines), marine exploration equipment, and environmental control system rings and piping; it also complies with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code standards.
