AMS 5888/ Inconel 617 Nickel Alloy Sheet

AMS 5888 is the aerospace material specification, This specification covers a corrosion and heat-resistant nickel alloy in the form of plate nominally 2.00 inches (50.8 mm) and under in thickness, inclusive.

 

Inconel 617 sheet is a solid solution, nickel-chromium-cobalt-molydenum alloy with an exceptional combination of high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance. The alloy also has excellent resistance to a wide range of corrosive environment, and it is readily formed and welded by conventional techniques.

High-Temperature Performance: Resists oxidation, carburization, and creep in environments up to 1100°C.

Corrosion Resistance: Chromium forms a protective oxide layer, effective against sulfur and other corrosive agents.

Fabrication: Challenging due to work hardening; may require intermediate annealing during forming.

Aerospace components (combustors, turbine blades), nuclear reactors, industrial heating systems, and chemical processing equipment.
