Hot Forming

We suggest that forming should be carried out at temperatures below 600 ° F as much as possible. When conducting hot forming treatment, the entire workpiece should be heated as a whole, and should be carried out within the temperature range of 1750 ° F to 2250 ° F. X10CrSi6 duplex steel is very soft at this temperature. If the temperature is too high, X10CrSi6 duplex steel is prone to hot tearing. If the temperature is lower than this, austenite will fracture. When the temperature is below 1700 ° F, the intermetallic phase will form quickly due to the influence of temperature and deformation. After the hot forming is completed, it should be immediately melted and annealed at a temperature as low as 1900 ° F, and quenched to restore its phase balance, toughness, and corrosion resistance. We do not recommend stress relief, but if it is necessary to do so, the material should be melted and annealed at a temperature as low as 1900 ° F, followed by rapid cooling and water quenching.

Cold Forming

X10CrSi6 dual phase steel can be cut and cold formed. However, due to the high strength and hardness of X10CrSi6 duplex steel itself, it requires more cold forming than austenitic steel, and precisely because of its high strength, the factor of rebound should be fully considered.

Heat Treatment

X10CrSi6 duplex steel should be annealed at a minimum temperature of 1900 ° F, followed by rapid cooling and water quenching. This treatment is applied to solid melt annealing and stress relief. Stress relief treatment, if carried out at temperatures below 1900 ° F, can easily lead to the precipitation of harmful metallic or non-metallic phases.

Mechanical Cutting Ability

On high-speed machine tools, the feed rate and cutting speed of X10CrSi6 dual phase steel are the same as 316L. If a carbonization knife is used, the cutting speed is reduced by about 20% compared to 316L, and the performance of the machine equipment and its components plays a crucial role in this.

Welding

The weldability of X10CrSi6 alloy is very good. The performance that X10CrSi6 dual phase steel needs to achieve is to maintain the same corrosion resistance, strength, and toughness as the base metal in the welding metal and hot modified parts. The welding difficulty of X10CrSi6 dual phase steel is not high, but its welding program needs to be designed so that after welding, a good phase balance can be maintained, avoiding the precipitation of harmful metal or non-metal phases.
