X12CrNi25-21 is an austenitic stainless steel, corresponding to standard SEW 470 (1976), with a hot forming temperature of 1150-800 ° C. Using a maximum temperature of 1050 ° C, it has excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, suitable for various industrial fields.
The hardness of X12CrNi25-21 stainless steel is generally below 180 HBW, and the density is about 7.9 g/cm ³. In terms of heat treatment, common processes include solution annealing, quenching, tempering, etc., to improve the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of materials.

Heat Treatment
The heat treatment of X12CrNi25-21 stainless steel mainly includes solution treatment and stabilization treatment. The purpose of solid solution treatment is to completely dissolve alloy elements in the base metal and reduce the hardness of the material for subsequent processing and use. The purpose of stabilization treatment is to fully dissolve and diffuse alloy elements in the base metal through heating and insulation, so as to obtain a stable austenite structure of the material and improve its corrosion resistance.
The specific heat treatment process is as follows
Solid solution treatment: Heat the material to 1080 ℃~1120 ℃, and the insulation time is determined by the effective thickness of the material, usually 15 minutes~1 hour, and then water quenching or air cooling.
Stabilization treatment: Heat the material to 850 ℃~900 ℃, with a holding time of generally 1 hour~4 hours, and then air cool or furnace cool to room temperature.
Welding Technology
The key points of the welding process for X12CrNi25-21 stainless steel are as follows:
Preheating should be carried out before welding, with a preheating temperature of 150 ℃~250 ℃.
Manual arc welding or automatic tungsten inert gas welding should be used for welding, and the welding rod or wire should match the base material.
During the welding process, the interlayer temperature should be maintained and should not be lower than the lower limit of the preheating temperature.
After welding is completed, hydrogen elimination treatment should be carried out immediately, with a hydrogen elimination temperature of 350 ℃~400 ℃ and a insulation time of 3h~4h.
Perform stress relief treatment by annealing or high-temperature tempering to eliminate welding stress.
Characteristic
X12CrNi25-21 stainless steel has the following properties:
Good corrosion resistance: Due to the high content of chromium and nickel elements, X12CrNi25-21 stainless steel has good corrosion resistance in most media, especially in oxidizing media. In reducing media, its corrosion resistance is slightly inferior to 304 stainless steel.
High temperature strength: Due to the high content of chromium and nickel elements, X12CrNi25-21 stainless steel still exhibits high strength and good creep performance at high temperatures. Its high-temperature strength is slightly lower than 304 stainless steel.
Work hardening: X12CrNi25-21 stainless steel is prone to work hardening during the machining process, resulting in an increase in hardness. After processing, softening treatment should be carried out to reduce hardness and improve corrosion resistance.
Thermal conductivity and toughness: X12CrNi25-21 stainless steel has good thermal conductivity, toughness, and is not prone to brittle fracture.
